Nidzumi.com: The Dishwasher Review

I picked up Ska Studios’ The Dishwasher: Dead Samurai on a whim when it came out on Xbox Live Arcade. It was one of the most striking and entertaining games I have played in a while.

Nidzumi.com: The Godfather II

EA were kind enough to send me a copy of The Godfather II, allegedly the last film license that they will ever make, so the least I could do is write a review of it.

Read what I thought of it here.

Nidzumi.com: PEGI: Not The Solution But The Start

With the new ratings system coming in in the UK and the Germans still intent on putting developers of violent video games in jail I thought it was time to pass some sort of comment on the state of play (excuse the pun).

The new ratings system that PEGI will be implementing is a massive step forward for the industry (despite the eerie similarities to the BBFC symbols). Now consumers should be less confused as all games will be rated under the same system. It will also become legally enforceable by 2010 and so hopefully people will begin to exercise some consideration in the games they buy for their children.

Anyway, here are my thoughts on the matter.

New Place for Rants

I have decided to post some of my more fully formed commentary about the games industry in my blog space on Edge Online. You can view it here. Maybe something good will come of it, one day…

GamersUniverse.com links

For those of you who have been trying to look at a lot of the stuff I did for GamersUniverse.com I must apologise. Sadly, the site doesn’t exist any more in any shape or form and has been swallowed up by the internet again. All the links to this site are now dead and I haven’t gotten round to replacing them with the original texts. Thanks for checking them out anyway though.

Apologies for the dead time.

After a fairly long period of inactivity due to illness, I am almost back at full fitness and ready to start typing again till my fingers fall off. Expect some new additions soon.

Nidzumi.com: Dawn of War II Review

Let’s face it, I was going to love this no matter what it was like. The thousands of Space Marines in my loft wouldn’t let me not like it.

Laying my bias for the Warhammer 40K universe aside, I approached Dawn of War II with the professional attititude it deserved and I was not disappointed. In fact, it was hard for me to stop writing about it.

Nevertheless, I did manage to stop writing and you can read what I wrote here.

GamePlasma.com: Disgaea 3: The Absence of Justice Review

I am pretty much obsessed with Japan, especially when it comes to games. They have a unique approach to making games that we just never see in the West. Disgaea 3 is probably one of the saner fringe titles to come out of Japan in a while.

Check out my review here.

Sadly there seems to be no screenshots posted in the review so there’s a couple above instead.

GamePlasma.com: Elven Legacy Preview

Having been locked in the seventh level of hell for a good few weeks now I have finally good my escape – as far as the sixth level. Anyway now I can start posting some links again. The most recent work I have been doing is on PC games for both of my main sites.

After a bit of faffing around I got to play about with Paradox’s forthcoming fantasy turn-based strategy Elven Legacy. It is a very pretty TBS actually and might just convince some RTS fans to cut the caffeine intake and try something a little slower.

The preview is here.

Part of the Furniture

If you read any of this at all I am happy to announce that my writing has found permanent homes on both sides of the Atlantic. In the UK my musings can be found at Nidzumi.com and in the big ol’ US  of A I am found on GamePlasma.com. After a bit of wandering in the internet it is nice to finally find a happy home (or two). Both are great sites and I am proud to be part of their continuing successes. See you there.
