When I first met Ewan in spring 2002, I was blown away by his poetic and moving first words to me: “Pint of lager please”. Genius.
Since then he has continued to delight anyone who will listen with similarly jaw-dropping insights and philosophical musings.
I later found out there was some basis for this, it wasn’t as inexplicable as you might imagine. Ewan went to quite a good school and a very good university, and did quite a good degree in philosophy. After perusing the want ads for philosophers to no avail, he sat down on his couch played some computer games.
He didn’t find this task difficult, since he had been playing such games since he was a wee laddie in short shorts.
Suddenly and without warning (you know how these things go), he was hit by the realisation that he knew more about computer games than he did about philosophy, quantum physics or sales of fold-out sofa beds in the People’s Republic of China….so he decided to write down some things he thought about computer games. Some people even said he was quite good at it and during his Journalism for Broadcast and Print course, made him editor of his first magazine in 2007.
For your amusement, enjoyment and, well, whatever you call it, here are some of the results.
After a stint on the short-lived site GamersUniverse.com, writing as Ewan Suszka, he is currently bugging publishers to send him review code, contributing to Nidzumi.com and occasionally appearing at European trade shows.
